Maiden Paces El Camino Real
El Camino Real High was without its best running back Friday, but that didn’t stop the Conquistadores from running past Kennedy.
With Quincy Wright sidelined because of a bruised knee, El Camino Real turned to Jared Maiden.
Maiden responded by rushing for 214 yards and a touchdown in 28 carries and the Conquistadores held on for a 22-14 Northwest Valley Conference victory at El Camino Real.
El Camino Real, ranked No. 8 in the City Section by The Times, also got an outstanding performance from wide receiver Demond Daniels, who had five receptions for 124 yards, including a 32-yard touchdown catch.
The Conquistadores improved to 5-1 overall, 2-1 in conference play.
Kennedy, led by running back Jason Jones with 80 yards, including scoring runs of one and 24 yards, fell to 4-2, 2-1.
