MIAMI — A Florida Marlins fan was killed by an automated commuter train Friday while trying to hang a “Go Marlins” banner from the elevated tracks.
The victim and another man, both 23, had jumped a fence and walked down the tracks to hang a sign that would have been visible to drivers on Interstate 395.
A Metromover car struck and killed one of the men at 3:45 a.m. The electrified cars, which run quietly on rubber wheels, are directed from a control room and have no crew.
The other man, Seth Stephens, ran to the next station and called police. He was charged with trespassing.
