A controlled burn to clear more than 400 acres of brush in the Sisar Canyon area will be conducted today, Ventura County fire officials announced.

The project, conducted by the U.S. Forest Service, the California Department of Forestry and other local agencies, is being funded by a federal grant.

The controlled burn is expected to extend into the Los Padres National Forest area of Sisar Canyon in the north, to Wilsie Canyon to the west, and to Roll’s Ranch to the south.

If the day proves to be too windy, the project will be canceled, fire officials said.
