City Establishes Rules for Sandbag Program
In anticipation of heavy rains this winter, a program to provide residents with sand and bags has been established.
The Community Sandbag Program, approved this week by the City Council, will let residents obtain as many as 15 burlap bags and sand from the Maintenance Services Department when heavy rainfall is predicted by the National Weather Service or during prolonged rainfall.
The bags and sand will be offered free to residents in four locations: at Valencia Drive and Brookhurst Road, Commonwealth Avenue and Lemon Street, Yorba Linda Boulevard and Associated Road and at Lemon Park.
Three stores also will participate in the $7,500 program, which will provide more than 16,500 bags and 170 cubic yards of sand.
