Just how posh is Newport Beach? In Newport, they use limos for taxicabs.

Well, at least Bill Lowry does.

Lowry, a driver for California Yellow Cab (800-YELLOW CAB), bought an old stretch, wide-body Lincoln limousine for a pittance and had it painted yellow. Just like any other cab, it has logos on the doors, a light on the top and a meter on the dash.

And just like any other cab, its fare is government regulated. It costs no more to take Lowry’s “cabousine” to the airport than another cab.

“I’m constantly busy,” Lowry says. “I think I’m going to buy me a couple more.”
