Low-Cost Rabies Shots Offered for Dogs, Cats

Share

The Southern California Veterinary Medical Assn. will offer a low-cost rabies vaccination clinic for cats and dogs on Saturday at Mason Park in Chatsworth and at the Panorama City Recreation Center on Nov. 6.

State, county and city laws require that dogs 4 months and older be vaccinated against rabies, said Richard Holden, the association’s executive director.

Rabies inoculations provide three years’ protection for dogs 1 year and older and one-year protection for dogs younger than a year.

In addition to rabies vaccines, a general six-in-one vaccination and two other common inoculations, coronavirus and bordetella, will be available for dogs.

Rabies vaccines also will be available for cats. The inoculation provides three years’ protection for cats 1 year and older and one-year protection for cats 3 to 11 months old. Cats can also receive a general four-in-one vaccination.

Rabies vaccinations for both dogs and cats are $4; six-in-one shots for dogs, $12; coronavirus and bordetella for dogs, $9 each; and four-in-one shots for cats, $12.

The vaccines will be administered by professional veterinarians from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Saturday at the park, 10500 Mason Ave., and 7 to 8:30 p.m. Nov. 6 at the Panorama City Recreation Center, 8600 Hazeltine Ave.

All dogs must be on a leash and cats must be in pet carriers.
