Historic Link: It was a historic event when crews finished digging a subway tunnel linking downtown with North Hollywood last week. But it wasn’t the first noteworthy local linkup. Few may remember it, but the railroad connecting Los Angeles with San Francisco was completed in Lang, a forgotten community near Canyon Country, on Sept. 5, 1876. It was L.A.’s first rail link with the north.
