Jane’s Addiction After-Party Proves Ripe for Stargazing

Just another Thursday night in Hollywood: As Marilyn Manson and actress Rose McGowan split a bottle of red wine in a corner booth, Smashing Pumpkins guitarist James Iha chatted with fellow guitarist Dave Navarro and friends at a neighboring table. Actor Ed Norton was on the dance floor with most of the members of Fishbone, and Flea was waiting barside while a fan bought him a beer.

Yep, a good time was had by all at the Opium Den after-party for Jane’s Addiction’s triumphant performance at the Grand Olympic Auditorium in downtown L.A. Like the show, the after-party was the hottest ticket in town, and deejay Sean Perry’s slammin’ mix of funkdified soul put it over the top. Also in the house was No Doubt drummer Adrian Young (sporting a mohawk), Jane’s drummer Stephen Perkins and, of course, Perry Farrell--the man of the hour. . . .

L.A.’s Shark Bar was the site of another star-studded gala last Wednesday thrown by Mariah Carey’s recording label, Crave. To celebrate the group Allure’s first hit single (the first for Crave, too), such celebs as Denzel Washington, Vivica Fox and Omar Epps were on hand. . . .

You never know what lurks behind the Silver curtain, but you’d be wise to leave your cell phone at home if you’re planning a trip to Millie’s any time soon. The popular Silver Lake eatery and hang on Sunset Boulevard evicted a customer last week who dared to wield his cellular phone in public. “It’s rude,” said a waitress, who sent the unamused chatter packing onto the boulevard. Hey, it ain’t Brentwood, ya know, and when in Rome . . . ah, you know the rest.
