Monroe Occupies Spots at the Top
Adam Kaplan, Lupe Delgadillo and Omar Ortega of Monroe High finished 1-2-3 in a 16-40 victory over Reseda in a Mid-Valley League boys’ cross-country meet at Pierce College on Wednesday.
Kaplan clocked 16:24 over the three-mile course with Delgadillo at 16:33 and Ortega at 16:36.
Monroe (10-0, 3-0 in league meets) clinched the league title.
Granada Hills 20, Kennedy 44--Dustin Odum won the North Valley League meet with a time of 16:27 for the Highlanders (3-0) at Pierce College.
Harvard-Westlake 16, Crespi 45--Josh Sohn won in 16:51 for the Wolverines (6-3, 3-3) in a Mission League meet at Griffith Park.
GIRLS’ CROSS-COUNTRY
Granada Hills 21, Kennedy 37--Kirsten McKenna clocked 22:01 in a North Valley League meet for the Highlanders (3-0) at Pierce College.
MEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY
Foothill Conference Championships--Mike Barkhuff finished third in 23:29 for Antelope Valley.
Ricardo Godoy finished first in 22:54 and Albar Inzunza was second in 23:03, helping San Bernardino win the conference title.
WOMEN’S CROSS-COUNTRY
Foothill Conference Championships--Shannon Earle was third in 23:21 and Jennifer Dykstra took eighth at 24:57 to help Antelope Valley finish third.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Granada Hills d. Kennedy, 15-3, 15-6, 15-2--Gina Karabogias had 28 assists and seven aces at Kennedy to help the Highlanders (11-1, 9-0) clinch their first Northwest Valley Conference championship in the fourth year of the program.
Chatsworth d. El Camino Real, 15-10, 15-12, 15-6--Noelle Bowlin had 13 kills for the Chancellors (8-4, 7-1) in a Northwest Valley Conference match at Chatsworth.
