STINGRAYS TONIGHT

Share

Opponent--Philadelphia Rage.

Site--The Palestra, University of Pennsylvania.

Time--4.

Records--Long Beach 3-2, Philadelphia 4-1.

Update--Having been handed a “Welcome to the ABL” beating by the Columbus Quest on Tuesday, the expansion StingRays now face a team Columbus Coach Brian Agler calls “the most talented in the league.” Philadelphia, known as the Richmond Rage last season, reached the ABL finals but lost to Columbus in five games. The franchise moved because of low ticket sales, which raises the question of how long the league will keep the StingRays in Long Beach, where attendance the past two games has been 1,008 and 1,255, well below last season’s league average of about 3,500. The Rage is led by Olympian Dawn Staley (20.8 points a game) and Taj McWilliams (10.8 rebounds). Philadelphia is shooting 46% from the three-point line.
