No. 3 Portland Shuts Out UCI in Women’s Soccer

Third-ranked Portland shut out visiting UC Irvine, 4-0, in a women’s soccer Tuesday.

Justi Baumgardt and Jenna Johnson scored Portland’s first two goals in the first half and Wynne McIntosh and Marla Schierman added the other two in the second half.

Kirsten Roy had three saves for UC Irvine (2-1). Portland is 2-0. The Anteaters will play Loyola Marymount in their home opener at 7 p.m. on Friday.

In nonconference women’s volleyball:

Georgia Tech 3, Cal State Fullerton 2--The Yellow Jackets won, 15-11, 10-15, 11-15, 15-11, 15-13. LaCretia Smith had 18 kills to lead Cal State Fullerton (3-1). Rochelle Komula had 14 kills for Georgia Tech (1-3).
