Robinson to Serve Third Term on College Board
Retired postal worker Carl E. Robinson will serve a third term on the Compton Community College Board of Trustees because no candidates have filed to oppose him in the November election, a spokesman said.
“I was surprised and elated to learn that none of the 300,000 people who I represent decided to file as a candidate for this office,” Robinson said in a statement.
Appointed to the board in 1985, Robinson once served as board president. Robinson, who is serving as the board’s clerk, represents Carson and parts of the Willowbrook area.
Board President Melanie Curtis-Andrews, who represents Compton, will be challenged by Verniece Dredd, a supervisor at the state Employment Development Department office in the city.
