Escape Computer Mess With Some Organizers

Share

Dorm rooms don’t hold the market on space shortage. Students who commute to school from their homes often find that there’s not enough room in their bedrooms or study rooms to download a disk.

The problem? Too much computer equipment.

The solution? Get organized.

Here’s a sampling of products and accessories at the Container Store in Costa Mesa that make computer setups more efficient:

* MousePaper ($3)--A mouse pad and a pad of paper are combined to reduce desk clutter. The canary yellow, ruled paper is overlaid with a “microdome” surface to allow for mouse ball traction.

* Laptop Transit ($75)--This backpack with padded shoulders, a double-padded sleeve and waist straps keeps a laptop stationary and cushions it if dropped.

* Mini Diskette Box ($5)--Colorful boxes store computer disks.

* Fun Computer Accessories ($13)--A package of products that attach to the side of a computer: a mouse storage unit; a clip that holds papers and notes at eye level; a utility cup for pens, pencils and scissors; and a bud vase.

* Personalized Mouse Pad ($10)--A photograph slips into the top of the mouse pad.

* The CD Wave ($10)--Holds 20 CD-ROMs and is stackable, allowing for expanding storage.

* Cable Turtle ($7)--Secures up to 3 feet of unsightly and potentially dangerous cords and cables.

* ZigZags ($10)--Sold in a set of three, these L-shaped, modular organizers can be connected to create holders for diskettes, paperback books, mail, you name it.

* Zip Disk Case ($11)--A lightweight carrying case with padded nylon cushions and a zippered closure keeps zip disks dust-free. Mesh pockets with elastic openings secure two disks each and also are sized to accommodate floppy disks and diskettes.

* Computer Cart ($300)--A self-contained computer center with storage place for all computer components, including a sliding keyboard shelf with built-in wrist support, a mouse shelf and a grooved top shelf for writing instruments. Built from solid wood and powder-coated steel, it moves over carpet and hard floor on sturdy casters. The CPU Tower Rack ($40) can be attached to the left or right side of the cart.
