AIDS Lawyer Team Wins Bar Award
The Public Law Center’s AIDS Legal Assistance Project Team of Santa Ana has been honored by the State Bar of California for giving free legal help to those in need.
The State Bar’s 1997 President’s Pro Bono Service Award will be presented to the team Friday during the group’s annual meeting in San Diego.
The Santa Ana-based law center provides free legal assistance to Orange County residents with HIV and AIDS.
In one accomplishment last year, the group arranged a six-figure settlement agreement for an HIV-infected client fired from his job.
The award was the largest of any to the center’s clients.
