Hurricane Linda May Bring Clouds, Rain

Although the San Fernando Valley will miss the full punch of Hurricane Linda, the area could experience residual effects of the storm, as high clouds are likely to produce isolated thunderstorms in mountains and foothills.

High clouds will prevail over the Valley in the early part of the week, keeping temperatures in the mid-80s to mid-90s, said John Sherwin, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides forecast information to The Times.

On Thursday and Friday, mostly clear to partly cloudy skies are predicted with temperatures in the mid-80s, Sherwin said.

“There won’t be a big heat wave or a major cool-down,” he said. “The big story is the high clouds coming into the area and the possibility of thundershowers.”

Hurricane Linda’s sideswipe of Southern California’s coast will mean waves between eight and nine feet with swells up to 10 feet at south-facing beaches, Sherwin said.

Today’s high temperatures are predicted to be 87 in Burbank, 91 in Woodland Hills and 90 in Van Nuys.
