There’s a new No. 2 this week, and it’s the Washington Huskies.

After a 36-3 victory over San Diego State on Saturday, Washington moved past idle Florida in The Associated Press’ Top 25 poll.

Penn State (2-0), with a 52-10 rout of Temple, was No. 1 again, receiving 25 first-place votes and 1,641 points from the 70 sports writers and broadcasters who vote in the poll.

The Huskies (2-0) collected 19 first-place votes and 1,615 points, only 26 points behind the Nittany Lions.

UCLA entered the poll at No. 24 and USC dropped out of the top 25, as did Texas and Notre Dame.

In the USA Today/ESPN coaches poll, the top five were Florida, Penn State, Washington, Tennessee and Florida State.
