TONIGHT’S GAME

ANGELS’

DENNIS SPRINGER

(8-9, 5.25 ERA)

vs.

TWINS’

LATROY HAWKINS

(5-11, 5.82 ERA)

* Update--The Angels won Sunday and got some clutch hits, but their offense is still struggling. The team is batting .217 (125 for 576) with 15 homers in the last 17 games, averaging 3.6 runs and 7.4 hits a game. Tim Salmon, one of the few Angels who seemed immune to the recent skid, has one hit in his last 15 at-bats, Jim Edmonds has three hits in his last 16 at-bats, Darin Erstad has five hits in his last 33 at-bats, and Tony Phillips has three hits in his last 15 at-bats. One semi-bright spot: Rickey Henderson, who was back his customary leadoff spot after being dropped to seventh Saturday, singled in the seventh inning to snap an 0-for-14 skid.

* Tuesday, 7 p.m.--Shigetoshi Hasegawa (3-6, 3.63) vs. Brad Radke (18-9, 3.93).
