Powwow to Feature Indian Dance, Crafts

A two-day powwow featuring traditional Indian dance, drums and authentic jewelry will be held Saturday and Sunday in Newbury Park.

The ninth annual Everything is Sacred Powwow is sponsored by the California Indian Council, an educational and charitable nonprofit organization.

Teams will compete in traditional dance contests, and there will be singers and craftspeople, as well as vendors selling arts and crafts supplies and food.

The free event will be held at the Borchard Community Center, 190 N. Reino Road. Hours on Saturday will be 9 a.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
