Coping With Illness Is Topic of Retreat

A one-day retreat for women living with chronic illness will be held Oct. 11 at the Irvine United Church of Christ.

The retreat will focus on the physical, psychological and spiritual needs of women coping with chronic illness.

Event speakers are professionals in the fields of physical, psychological and spiritual health. They include Kate Schmidt, three-time Olympic athlete and water therapist; Paula Shaw, grief and loss therapist; and the Rev. Gail Benson, pastor of Irvine United Church of Christ.

The keynote speaker will be Dorothy Caruso-Herman, who has lived with multiple sclerosis since 1983.

A resource room will be available with literature describing local programs and resources regarding chronic illness.
