Van Earl Wright to Anchor Fox News

Share

Sportscaster Van Earl Wright, who developed a cult following during his four years at CNN (1989-93), will soon be back on the national scene as an anchor on “Fox Sports News,” The Times has learned.

Wright, 35, of Hermosa Beach, came to Southern California in January to pursue an acting and voice-over career after working for three years in local news in Detroit, where he was the 1994 sportscaster of the year. He worked for radio station KFWB until July and has been doing weekend sports for Channel 2.

He’ll start his new job next week, although he probably won’t be on the air immediately.

“Fox Sports News” is carried nightly by the Fox Sports Net, a group of regional sports networks that includes Fox Sports West and Fox Sports West 2.
