The rivalry between Clemson and Georgia, which began 100 years ago but looked dead two years ago, will be renewed when the two schools play consecutive season-opening games in 2002 and 2003.

The teams first met in Athens, Ga., in 1897 and last faced each other in 1995. Officials at both schools, separated by about an hour’s drive, blamed conference tie-ins and increased scheduling demands for the series’ interruption.
