Response to Fliers Gives Police Leads in Series of Burglaries
A rash of residential burglaries remains unsolved, police said Monday, but residents have called with a few leads after the distribution of 700 fliers last week.
Sgt. Gary Gallinot said about 30 houses and apartments have been burglarized since late August in the area from Lincoln Boulevard to 26th Street and from Montana Avenue to Santa Monica Boulevard.
In a normal month, 30 residential burglaries might occur citywide, he said.
In all instances, thieves entered through unlocked doors or open windows in the early evening when no one was home. In some cases, residents had left only for a few minutes, he said.
Gallinot said residents could receive a free home security inspection by calling (310) 458-8473. Suspicious activity should be reported at (310) 458-8491 or 911 if a crime is in progress.
