Lori Burrill, formerly managing director of Opera Pacific, has been appointed special projects director at the Philharmonic Society of Orange County, effective immediately, executive director Dean Corey announced Friday. Burrill will work on the society’s 1999 festival “Beethoven: The Age of Revolution and Romance” and other projects to be announced. Burrill had been an administrator at Opera Pacific for 12 years before resigning abruptly in June. Her departure was one in a series of exits at the company since Patrick L. Veitch took over as general director last September. The opera company reported a small fiscal year-end profit, although an accumulated deficit of about $650,000 remains.
