Parade Representatives to Be Picked Sunday

One of this mission town’s most venerated traditions, the selection of representatives for the Swallows Day Parade, will take place Sunday at the annual Pit Barbecue.

The San Juan Capistrano Fiesta Assn. will be choosing Ms. Fiesta and Senor San Juan. The two will take center stage at the parade in March, which organizers say is the largest non-motorized parade in the country.

The barbecue Sunday features another San Juan Capistrano tradition: pit-roasted tri-tip beef, along with dancing to a country and western band and a beer wagon.

Admission is $8. Western dress is encouraged.

The barbecue is at Historic Town Center Park, located on El Camino Real about a block from the Mission San Juan Capistrano.
