Group’s Ads Protest Balboa Revitalization

Share

The Central Newport Beach Assn. took out advertisements in local papers Thursday slamming the city’s plans to revitalize the Balboa Peninsula.

The association, among other things, contended the city ignored concerns from residents about plans for a restaurant and hotel, and criticized the city’s decision to spend $100,000 on studies.

The ad comes in response to a pamphlet the city recently sent to 44,000 residents describing benefits of the project, board member Tom Hyans said.

Mayor Janice A. Debay said residents should be reminded that the proposals are still being studied.
