It’s a Matter of Fine-Tuning

The Kings’ 3-0 loss at Philadelphia dropped them to 1-3 on their six-game trip, but they are more encouraged than worried with the way they’ve played in losing their last two games.

“We’re not concerned at all,” center Ray Ferraro said. “We’ve played pretty well the last two games [losses to the Flyers and Buffalo Sabres]. . . . Obviously, we would like to score a little more because that would make things a little easier.

“We know 70% to 80% effort is not good enough for us. We know that we’re not going to win many games like that. The trick is to try and get everybody working on all cylinders. People have to remember that we have had a good year, but we’ve had some people out and we kind of lost our edge a little bit. It’s a lot easier to lose it than to get it back and we’re trying step by step to get it back.”

Over the last three games, the Kings’ power play has just one goal in 21 opportunities, including a zero-for-three effort against the Flyers.

“At least we’re getting chances now,” King Coach Larry Robinson said. “Our passing the last two games has been a lot better than it has been in a long time. We’re moving the puck quicker. Guys are helping each [other.] There are a lot of great positives.”
