El Nino Is Giving Way to Wind, Cool Nights

Southern California will get a respite from El Nino this week as no rain is expected through Friday, forecasters said.

“There is a chance of rain in Central California today and again on Wednesday, but I’m not forecasting any rain south of that,” said Jeff House, a meteorologist with WeatherData Inc., which provides forecast information to The Times.

Cloudy to partly cloudy skies are forecast throughout this week in the Valley with highs expected in the low to upper 60s, and morning and overnight lows in the mid 40s, House said.

Gusts of up to 20 mph are expected today, the forecaster said, and morning lows will be in the mid-40s, with afternoon highs in the mid 60s.

Morning lows are expected to be 45 in Burbank and 44 in Woodland Hills, Chatsworth and Van Nuys. Highs are expected to be 65 in Burbank and Van Nuys, 64 in Chatsworth and 63 in Woodland Hills.

Partly cloudy skies, no winds and warmer afternoon temperatures are in the offing for Tuesday with highs in the mid to upper 60s. Morning lows will continue to be in the mid 40s Tuesday.

Wednesday’s forecast should be a repeat of Tuesday, House said. Partly cloudy skies and morning lows in the mid 40s should give way to sunshine and temperatures in the mid to upper 60s.

Cloudy skies and slightly cooler temperatures are expected Thursday and Friday, with the thermometer dipping to the low 40s and rising to not much higher than 60 later in the day.
