Councilwoman Leads Bid to Form Advisory Council

Los Angeles City Councilwoman Cindy Miscikowski has been working with dozens of Brentwood residents and local interest groups to form an advisory community council similar to one that has been active in Pacific Palisades for 25 years, officials said.

Miscikowski hopes the community council will hold its first meeting in May, said Lisa Hill, deputy to the 11th District councilwoman.

Hill said the group will serve as an advocate for Brentwood with government and private agencies, disseminate information to the community, attempt to solve local problems and make improvements, all while providing input to the councilwoman.

Members of the council are being nominated by homeowners and renters groups, schools, churches, chambers of commerce and other organizations, and should be announced by the end of April, Hill said.

Brentwood has never had a advisory organization whose members come from such a wide range of interest groups, Hill said. “It is by no means our intention to take away the power or responsibility of existing groups,” Hill said. “It’s not a substitute by any means. It’s just an addition.”
