Jason Brink dominated Cal State Fullerton hitters Thursday night as Nevada defeated the Titans, 5-1, in a Big West Conference game at Cal State Fullerton. The loss snapped the Titans’ six-game winning streak.

Brink (7-2) pitched a six-hitter with eight strikeouts and two walks. His only mistake came in the bottom of the seventh inning when Ryan Moore hit a leadoff home run to make the score 2-1. Then Pete Fukuhara reached on a bunt single and moved to second on a passed ball.

With the tying run on second, Brink retired the Titans (26-12, 12-4) on a popup, strikeout and a ground out to end the threat. It was the only time Fullerton was close.

An RBI single by Corky Miller and a two-run single by Don Price in the top of the eighth inning gave Nevada (17-15, 5-5) a 5-1 lead.

Miller and Lyle Overbay each had two hits and a run scored for the Wolfpack.

Erasmo Ramirez (5-5) got the start for Cal State Fullerton, but was removed with one out in the eighth inning after giving up nine hits and four walks.

In nonleague softball:

Loyola Marymount 3-6, Concordia 2-0 (game 1, 8 innings; game 2, 5 innings)--The second game of the doubleheader was called in the fifth inning when a line drive hit by Daphne Vadman struck Concordia second baseman Jana Padilla in the right eye. Since Padilla was unable to continue, both coaches and umpires agreed to call the contest because Concordia (13-23-1) had only eight players remaining.

Host Loyola Marymount (23-20) had a five-run fifth inning, and was led by Kim Bissett, who had two hits and two RBIs.

In the opening game, LMU’s Meghan Dunbabin and Meredith Butler had two hits each. Laura De Leon (3-1) appeared in relief in the first inning and went the rest of the way to earn the victory for LMU.
