City Web Site Could Be Up in 3 Months

The city that prides itself on its low density and semirural nature is planning to make it possible for the whole world to visit, virtually.

Yorba Linda should have an official World Wide Web site running within three months, David A. Gruchow, assistant city manager, said. The Web site will offer information about city departments, council agendas and listings of community events and organizations.

But Gruchow said he wants to see how popular the site is before souping it up with e-mail access to city officials or permits and forms that residents can upload.

“We’re still somewhat skeptical of the benefit of a fully interactive Web site,” Gruchow told the City Council this week.

Several residents have volunteered to develop the city’s site. But Gruchow said he might have city staff members build it to maintain consistency with the city library’s site, scheduled to debut in two weeks.
