Newhall Ranch

Share

* The dangerous Newhall Land & Farming Co. project just across the county line on Highway 126 is now before the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors. Without bringing up the dreadful things that might happen to people in our county if this project is built, we can be fairly certain that the following problems will ensue:

* Valley fever epidemics caused by disturbing the dust of the loosely cemented hills on the Newhall Ranch site, to move the millions of tons of dirt that the earth sculpturing of the land will require.

* Increased traffic on both Highway 126 and Interstate 5, air pollution, visual blight and destruction of Native American sites.

* Drastic changes in the water flow in the Santa Clara River, including more frequent flooding and more drastic shortages, as well as water quality degradation.

* Increased pressure on agricultural lands in Ventura County to become housing tracts.

* Newhall is not providing any very-low-income housing, in spite of state and federal laws, but will require the services of people at that income level.

You can contact the L.A. Board of Supervisors to protest, and the Ventura County Supervisors to tell them you support their appeal against this project.
