Magic Decides to Stay an Owner

Share

Proving that even his ownership decisions come with the potential for a change of heart, Magic Johnson has decided not to sell his 5% share in the Lakers and instead will remain in his current position that also includes the title of vice president.

So much for the series of conversations with owner Jerry Buss about selling, which then branched out to talks with outside parties when Johnson and Buss could not reach an agreement. Johnson was making the move to divest himself of NBA holdings as a prerequisite to the planned opening of a sports management firm.

That plan is either history or on the back burner.

Robert Horry, who had missed four of the previous five games, returned to action Monday at San Antonio, immediately rejoining the starting lineup at power forward but playing only 15 minutes as Corie Blount earned most of the time by grabbing 10 rebounds in 26 minutes.
