Coyotes Edge Red Wings
Rookie Brad Isbister scored the tying goal and set up Shane Doan’s game-winner with 5:28 remaining to lead the Phoenix Coyotes to a 2-1 victory over the Detroit Red Wings at Phoenix on Tuesday.
Both teams were without key players. Detroit center Steve Yzerman has a nagging groin injury and the Coyotes’ Rick Tocchet was out as part of a two-game suspension for a high-sticking incident.
Ottawa 3, Florida 2--Alexei Yashin and Andreas Dackell both had a goal and an assist at Miami, where Ottawa clinched its second consecutive playoff berth.
Panther right wing Dino Ciccarelli broke his right ankle.
Washington 3, New York Rangers 1--A puck off the nose of the Capitals’ Andrei Nikolishin in the third period resulted in the winning goal at Washington.
