City Program to Take On Weed Abatement
Got weeds?
City officials soon will start cracking down on properties with overgrown weeds as part of its 1998 Weed Abatement Program from May 15 to June 30.
In January, the city mailed about 600 letters to residents, alerting them to potential weed problems, said Amy Amirani, director of public works.
Residents have the choice of removing the weeds themselves, hiring an outside contractor or allowing the city to remove them.
The city will order work for any property owner who fails to respond, and charge the costs of the removal to the person’s property tax bill.
