Skateboard Facility at Lang Park Proposed

Share

Still searching for a spot to build a skateboard park, the City Council will consider creating one at Lang Park.

At its last meeting, the council rejected a proposed location near Aliso Creek because of concerns about noise. The council also has debated building a park at the so-called Village Entrance area at Forest Avenue and Laguna Canyon Road. That proposal has yet to be considered formally.

But Councilman Wayne L. Peterson, who has been pushing for a skateboard park for years, is undaunted. He has now proposed a facility at Lang Park, in the south end of the city across Pacific Coast Highway from the empty Treasure Island trailer park.

Lang Park has most of the criteria needed for a skateboard park, including restrooms and access to the bus stop, Peterson said.

The proposed skateboard park will be discussed at the council’s Tuesday meeting, beginning at 6 p.m. in the council chambers, 505 Forest Ave.
