The City Council, seeking to join neighboring Covina in its war on methamphetamines, has asked the city attorney to duplicate that city’s ordinance outlawing large purchases of some cold medicines that contain one of the key ingredients of the illicit drug.

Council members asked that an ordinance be drafted to limit the sale of common cold and allergy medications containing pseudoephedrine and its sister compound ephedrine.

Covina is the only city in the county to limit sales to two 24-tablet packages of medicine at any one time.
