School Boundaries on Tonight’s Agenda

Share

Santa Ana Unified School District trustees will vote tonight on proposed boundaries for Lydia Romero Cruz Elementary School, which is scheduled to open in December.

District officials are recommending that third-, fourth- and fifth-graders from Carver Elementary School be sent to the all-portable Cruz Elementary. Carver would accommodate students in kindergarten through second grade.

Officials are also proposing that some third-, fourth- and fifth-graders be transferred to the new school from Wilson and Fremont elementary schools.

Cruz Elementary, at 1512 W. Santa Ana Blvd., was created to ease crowding at surrounding elementary schools, and will hold about 400 students. School board members have yet to decide whether to designate Cruz a fundamental school, which would stress back-to-basics programs and strict discipline.

The board meets at 7 p.m. at district headquarters, 1601 E. Chestnut Ave. Information: (714) 558-5501.
