Times Mirror Unit May Buy Pasadena Weekly

A Times Staff Writer

Times Community News, a unit of Times Mirror Co., said it signed a letter of intent to acquire the Pasadena Weekly, a community newspaper with 35,000 free circulation that serves Pasadena and surrounding communities. Terms of the deal, which must be approved by both parties, were not disclosed. “The Pasadena Weekly is a highly respected community newspaper with a fiercely loyal local following,” said Robert G. Magnuson, Los Angeles Times senior vice president for regional editions and president and chief executive of Times Community News. “It will be a strong asset to help us better serve readers and the community in the greater Pasadena area.” The Pasadena Weekly would continue to be distributed free as a TCN paper. TCN publishes daily and weekly community newspapers in Los Angeles, Ventura and Orange counties, including the Glendale News-Press, the Huntington Beach Independent and Our Times Santa Monica. Times Mirror is also the parent of the Los Angeles Times.
