Nutria Problem

Share

Re the article on nutria, July 28:

The obvious solution is to eat them! They are delicious! They taste something in between chicken and rabbit. In Argentina, where I come from, they were considered a delicacy, and were very expensive. Many rodents are good to eat; weasel too, for instance, is also delicious.

Of course, your stereotyping it as a rat will not help Americans to try it. It definitely does not look like a rat. I can’t wait until some restaurant offers it on its menu. I haven’t had it for over 40 years and I will definitely order it!

I enjoyed your April Fool’s gag story about how Louisiana has allegedly responded to an infestation of plant-destroying nutria (a South American rodent) by encouraging the state’s chefs to invent a tasty way to cook the varmints.
