Minutes after suspected gang members shot and wounded an alleged rival they were chasing down a busy street, police arrested two men Tuesday afternoon while paramedics rushed the victim to a hospital.

The 25-year-old victim, whom police did not identify, was shot in the chest and a leg and remained in stable condition Tuesday evening, said Long Beach Police Cpl. Harry Erickson.

Carlos Letrell Hall, 21, and Tyrone Dewitt Robinson, 20, were caught nearby within 10 minutes of the shooting, Erickson said. Both were booked and held on $30,000 bail at Long Beach City Jail.

The shooting began around 1:20 p.m., after two or three gang members armed with a handgun confronted the victim near Orange Avenue and 19th Street, Erickson said. As the victim ran down Orange Avenue, the men followed, firing as they ran past homes and Long Beach City College until the victim took cover in a tire shop, Erickson said.

Soon afterward, officers four blocks away stopped Hall and Robinson, who matched a description of the shooting suspects given by witnesses, Erickson said.
