Municipal Courthouse to Undergo Quake Repairs

Share

County Supervisor Zev Yaroslavsky announced that the long-overdue earthquake repairs on the Santa Monica Municipal Courthouse will begin next month.

The $470,000 project, funded by the Federal Emergency Management Agency, will begin Sept. 25 and be completed by Aug. 5, 1999, a spokesman for Yaroslavsky said.

The repairs will include replacing some walls and adding steel bracing to others.

“I’m very pleased that we will now be able to move forward and complete the long-overdue repairs on this court facility,” Yaroslavsky said.

“Santa Monica was among our region’s hardest hit areas in the Northridge earthquake, and it’s been frustrating for all of us that we’ve had to spend more than four years getting this particular need taken care of.”
