A 14-year-old boy suffered a superficial stab wound to his left arm after he was accused of stealing a woman’s purse inside a Camarillo movie theater, authorities said Thursday.

The Port Hueneme youth was treated at Pleasant Valley Hospital in Camarillo after the Wednesday night incident at Edwards Cinema, Ventura Sheriff’s Capt. Keith Parks said.

There have been no arrests and deputies do not know what kind of weapon was used, Parks said.

About 7:30 p.m, an Oxnard woman who was at the theater with a male friend noticed her purse was missing. She confronted the teen and others sitting behind her and a fight broke out, deputies said.

Because the theater was dark, it was hard to tell who did the stabbing and the stealing, deputies said.

The woman found her purse with some of its contents dumped on the floor, Parks said. Some cash and credit cards were missing, he added.

“Anyone in the row could have been involved in this theft. Plenty of people jumped in the fracas,” Parks said.

The investigation is continuing.
