Stuck Truck Hit by Train; No Injuries
A freight train slammed into a tractor-trailer that was stuck on tracks late Friday morning near downtown Fullerton. No one was injured, police said.
The back wheels of the truck were caught on the train tracks as the driver tried to travel across Highland Avenue, just south of Commonwealth Avenue, shortly after 11 a.m., said Lt. Geoff Spalding.
The eastbound train was unable to slow down in time; it hit the truck while traveling at 15 mph to 20 mph, Spalding said.
The crash is the county’s second train-vehicle accident in two weeks.
