Family Seeks Public’s Help in Locating Missing Man

A La Mirada family is urging the public to help them find a missing diabetic man who suffers from the early stages of Alzheimer’s disease.

Emelio A. Ramirez, 75, drove off about noon Saturday from his apartment in the 15800 block of Alicante Road, said Ramirez’s daughter, Sylvia Zavala, 45.

“He said [to his wife, Gregoria,] he was going outside to take out the trash and visit with friends downstairs,” Zavala said. “Then, when she looked out, she realized the car was gone.”

The couple’s car is a 1995 white Ford Taurus with the California license plate number 3NDT096, Zavala said.

Zavala described Ramirez as 5 feet, 3 inches tall and about 140 pounds. Ramirez was last seen wearing black pleated pants and a light blue striped, short-sleeved shirt, she said.

The family is worried about Ramirez’s health because he has not taken his insulin since Saturday morning and did not take any with him, Zavala said.

“That’s why we’re sure he didn’t mean to take off,” she said. “He didn’t take anything with him at all. And he told my mom, ‘I’ll be back in a little bit.’ ”

The family is asking anyone who has seen Ramirez to contact the Norwalk sheriff’s station at (562) 863-8711.
