Police Issue Description of Robber in Holdup
Police issued a detailed description Monday of a man who robbed a Santa Fe Springs gas station attendant at knifepoint.
The crime occurred about 5:45 p.m. on July 8 at a Thrifty gas station at 13352 Imperial Highway, said Whittier Police Officer Chuck Drylie. Whittier officers patrol parts of Santa Fe Springs on a contract basis.
A store videotape shows the suspect leaving and returning five minutes later when other customers had left, Drylie said. The robber put a knife to the attendant’s throat and ordered her to hand over cash, about $200.
The suspect was identified as a Latino male, 5 feet, 8 inches tall, 170 pounds, with brown eyes, short, thick, wavy black hair and a mustache, Drylie said. During the robbery, he wore black pants, a black and white checked shirt and a black baseball cap with a Houston Astros star.
Police urged anyone with information about the suspect to call at (562) 945-8250 or contact Det. Mike Redmon at (562) 409-1850.
