Fair Board to Air New Plans for Swap Meet

Share

Revitalization plans for the weekend swap meet at the Orange County Fairgrounds will go before the public during a Aug. 27 hearing.

Tel-Phil Enterprises, operators of the swap meet since 1969, has proposed building an antique car museum, a centralized produce plaza and stations for name-brand manufacturers to sell products at outlet store prices.

Orange County Fair directors have called for a public hearing and review process. Officials from the swap meet and a professional land-use planner will answer questions. Residents within 300 feet of the project have been notified by mail.

Tel-Phil officials said they hope to reverse a seven-year dive in attendance from 3 million to 1.5 million.

The hearing begins at 10 a.m. in the Memorial Gardens Building at the fairgrounds, 88 Fair Drive.
