2 Administrators Switch High Schools

In a shuffle that sends two veteran administrators to each other’s former schools, the Las Virgenes Unified School District has appointed new principals at Calabasas and Agoura high schools.

The appointments end a scramble prompted by the abrupt resignation of the newly elected principal of Calabasas High School in late June.

Jim Christianson, former principal of Agoura High, will now take the reins at Calabasas, while the assistant principal at Calabasas, Larry Misel, will become principal of Agoura High.

“This kind of took me a little bit by surprise,” Christianson said. He said he had assumed he would stay at Agoura after Calabasas Principal Bob Sutton retired earlier this year and the district began a search for his successor.

It found one--Lynn McCormack--but she resigned for personal reasons about a month before she was to begin her job.

Both new principals know the school district well, especially Christianson, who served as the principal of A.E. Wright Middle School in Calabasas before moving to Agoura High.

Before working as assistant principal at Calabasas High, Misel held the same position at Lindero Canyon Middle School in Agoura Hills. The two men have been friends and colleagues for 15 years.
