Cal State Fullerton guard Dane Plock has told the coaching staff he does not plan to be part of the team this season but will continue attending classes, school spokesman Mel Franks said Friday.

Plock, a graduate of Estancia High and a two-year letterman at Fullerton, averaged 3.5 points last season in 24 games. He averaged 6.3 points in 25 games as a freshman.

Plock had been suspended before the start of the first practice last season by Coach Bob Hawking for an unspecified violation of team rules. Plock sat out 30 days before rejoining the team.

The latest attempt by Bullfrog President Stuart Silver to bring a minor league ice hockey team to Anaheim this fall appears to have failed, team spokesman Bruce Hammill said Friday. Instead, Silver will attempt to gain control of the Reno Rage of the West Coast Hockey League at a bankruptcy sale Friday and move it to Anaheim Convention Center for the 1999-2000 season.

Last week Silver placed a $250,000 offer to buy the Rage with a bankruptcy trustee, but bickering among seven Rage owners stalled negotiations, according to Wayne Wilson, an international banker based in Singapore who identified himself as one of Silver’s partners. Wilson said he has pledged $1.5 million in operating funds if Silver gains control of the team.
