Firecrackers May Have Started 5-Acre Brush Fire
Three teenagers playing with fireworks were suspected of setting off a fire that burned five acres of brush in the West Valley on Thursday before firefighters contained the flames, according to authorities.
The fire broke out at Chatsworth Park, south of Devonshire Street and Shadow Oak Drive, said Bob Collis, a spokesman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The 145 firefighters from the city who responded to the blaze were aided by additional crews from Los Angeles and Ventura counties.
Four structures, not described, were briefly threatened, Collis said.
The three teenagers were being questioned by arson investigators Thursday night.
