Model ship enthusiasts take note: The Ventura County Maritime Museum in Oxnard will hold its fifth annual fund-raising auction next month.

The museum, at Fisherman’s Wharf at Channel Islands Harbor, is dedicated to maritime history and houses an array of maritime art and ship models, said David Leach, the museum’s operations manager.

The Sept. 13 auction, intended to help expand the museum’s collection, will feature marine art, dinners, ship models and trips. Viewings will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with doors reopening at 4 p.m. and a live auction at 5 p.m.

Leach said he hopes to exceed the nearly $7,000 raised last year. Admission to the auction is $20.

The 7-year-old museum’s art collection includes works by marine painters ranging from the 16th-century Dutch and Flemish masters to contemporary pieces by artists such as John Stobart.

The museum is at 2731 S. Victoria Ave. For more information, call 984-6260.
